Charlie st. Cloud is written by Ben Sherwood and falls into the novel category. I have read many past similar novels such as the last song, and the lucky one, and the book seems to take a quite dissimilar route. The two other books specifically the last song, begins the story, and quickly builds on the main events climax. Charlie st. clouds begin with an important event and goes back to it. On the other hand, they are similar in the way that they both ended up being major motion picture novels. In addition to both being movies, they centralize the theme of a problem around family and result in solution involving others aka known as love.
Charlie st. Cloud may be different from the past novels including the last song in the way that the plot is built. The book begins with major important striking information, centralizing in the main point of the whole book. It tells you most of what a person needs to know to understand the book in the first couple of pages. As the book continues, there are many flash-forwards and backs. Knowing something so important in the begin of the book can change and vary the view of the reader. It may be helpful so that a person can always clearly understand the point of the book. While on the other hand, it decreases the level of thrill while reading it.
The book may go against the usual expectations of what a normal novel should look like. Towards the beginning of the book,
“Thirteen years had gone by since Charlie had first past come to waterside. Thirteen years had passed since the paramedics failed to revive his little brother. thirteen years had vanished since Sam was buried in a small coffin near the Forest of shadows. Thirteen Octobers. Thirteen world series. Thirteen years keeping the promise.”( Page 46).
In my opinion the book is well written though it may be different. The book starts giving part of the main of the book but it gives background information prior. There is equal amounts plot well incorporated to the book. The book is uniquely great!
